BouMatic launches EZ‑Arm: a new standard in ergonomic milking performance

BouMatic, a global pioneer in dairy technology with more than 85 years of experience, announces the launch of the EZ‑Arm. This innovative ergonomic hose support is designed to significantly improve comfort, speed and completeness of the milking process in parallel milking parlours.

The EZ‑Arm has been developed in line with BouMatic’s milking philosophy — comfortable, fast and complete milking — and supports the milking unit exactly where challenges most often arise in practice: hose guidance. By actively balancing the long milk hose and pulsation hose, the milking unit remains stable, square and precisely positioned beneath the udder throughout the entire milking process. This ensures a continuous milk flow from the cow to the milk line, contributing to healthy high‑performance milking and improved operator comfort.

A stable milking unit as the basis for good milking

Poor hose guidance creates pulling and pushing forces that can twist the milking unit out of position, leading to restless cows, longer milking times, liner slips, increased teat loading and a higher risk of residual milk and mastitis. The EZ‑Arm eliminates these forces by continuously balancing the milk and pulsation hoses, keeping the milking unit hanging straight as it moves naturally with the cow.

This stable positioning allows cows to be milked calmly and comfortably, while low teat loading supports visible improvements in udder health. Thanks to its lightweight yet robust design, the EZ‑Arm offers full freedom of movement without restricting access to the udder, resulting in a natural, consistent milk flow and complete, even udder emptying.

Peace of mind for the milker

For the milker, this results in a calmer, more consistent and effortless milking routine. Because the EZ‑Arm automatically maintains correct cluster positioning, tilted clusters and frequent rehanging become a thing of the past. Acting like an exoskeleton for the milking unit, it significantly reduces the perceived weight during handling.

Tension can be adjusted quickly and without tools, allowing milkers to easily adapt the system to their personal preferences and working conditions.

Flexible, adaptable and easy to install

The EZ‑Arm is designed to optimise the performance of BouMatic’s Flo‑Star MAX and Flo‑Star Xtreme milking units, while remaining compatible with all milking unit types and parallel parlour installations. The system is available for both 16 mm and 19 mm milk hoses and features three adjustable arm lengths to support different parlour configurations.

Installation is quick and easy: the arm is mounted with screws underneath the platform edge and requires a minimum platform overhang of just 15 cm.

Daily efficiency with no maintenance

Thanks to its simplified design and minimal number of components, the EZ‑Arm is low‑maintenance and intuitive to use. This makes the system a reliable investment in both animal health and milking efficiency.
