Correct milking routine

BouMatic cannot emphasise enough the crucial importance of good, thorough pre-treatment and preparation in your milking process. We recommend that you always follow the same, correct routine.

Teat preparation and the time for cluster attachment must be long enough. Before milking starts, each teat must be prepared separately for the purpose of:

  • Optimal teat cleaning
  • Teat stimulation
  • Stripping
  • Maximum oxytocin production and release for the best milk let-down.

The entire pre-treatment process can take 60 to 90 seconds, which is as long as the cow needs for optimal oxytocin release.

The seven steps for optimal udder treatment and preparation are shown below:

STEP 1

For optimal preparation, make sure that the teats are clean when the cow comes to be milked. Remove any dirt and bedding residue if necessary.

STEP 2

Apply one of our pre-dipping foam products.

Use our unique foam dip! BlueMax Premium or BlueMax B-clean

STEP 3

Strip each teat and then clean the teat end.

IMPORTANT! 10 to 12 seconds of teat contact per cow (forestripping, cleaning and wiping)

STEP 4

Wipe the teat in a circular motion – fold the towel and rub the teat end vigorously.

STEP 5

Attach and align the cluster.

IMPORTANT! Attach the cluster within 75-90 seconds after steps 3 and 4.

STEP 6

Adjust the cluster so that it is correctly positioned.

IMPORTANT! A well-positioned cluster should be perpendicular to the curb without the milk line being twisted.

STEP 7

Apply one of our post-dipping products, making sure to completely cover the teat!
