OMRI - We Are Certified Organic!
Consumers are driving the market by demanding organically certified food products
BouMatic has joined this pack of 20,000 certified organic organizations in the United States by offering a select teat dip offering that is nationally listed for organic use.
In 2018, BouMatic teamed up with OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) to have our Udderdine (iodine based teat dip) products listed for organic use. OMRI is a nonprofit organization that provides an independent review of products, such as livestock health care products that are intended for use in certified organic production and processing. OMRI supports organic integrity by developing clear information and guidance about materials, allowing producers know which products are appropriate for organic operations. When companies apply, OMRI reviews their products against the organic standards. Acceptable products become OMRI Listed® and appear on the OMRI Products List©. BouMatic is proud to provide Udderdine 502, Udderdine 102, Udderdine 105, Udderdine 110 and Sprayable Udderdine 110 Barrier as our teat dip solution for our organic customers.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
By having products listed by a National certifier, Regional organic certifiers often “fast track” their approval processes if they see products that are nationally certified as ‘organic’. With our new OMRI listing for Udderdine products, BouMatic dealers now have the ability to fulfill teat dip product requests to customers with organic product needs for their operation.
We are all living within the hardship of dairies exiting the dairy business. In the
November 2018 issue of Hoard’s Dairyman, Marin Bozic emphasizes five factors that will dictate dairy farm consolidation. One of the 5 factors is Premiums. Organic milk qualifies for higher premiums. Dairies refusing to exit industry are expanding and improving efficiencies and/or are becoming Organic and reaping the reward of premium milk prices. With our new OMRI listing, BouMatic dealers now have teat dip products to offer their customers for organic farm use.
