We are looking for candidates who are interested in working on, and learning more about, Electrical and /or software prototyping of Dairy equipment.

This includes anything from Electrical design and troubleshooting to Programming and coding to testing and documentation of prototype systems for milking equipment.

Skills & Experience

Below are skills we are interested in. Candidates need not have all of these skills (and likely won’t). Depending on the type of project, the candidate will also be able to learn and gain experience in the following areas:

  • Industrial Controls/ Control panel layout and design experience
  • PCB level design and experience
  • PLC programming experience in ladder logic or other languages. We currently use ABB, Automation Direct, B&R, Bachmann & Carel PLC’s
  • PC Programming experience : (C++, C#, Python, JS, etc. Also DevOps, Git etc.)
  • Electrical and electronic troubleshooting experience.
  • Design and execution of tests and data collection for electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Documentation and the ability to organize and present data (Word, excel, etc.)
  • May occasionally need to travel to farms for prototype testing and evaluation. Should be comfortable in the farm environment.

Nice to Have:

  • CAD: Schematics and panel layout AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, and/or PCB level design experience
  • Knowledge of Dairy industry and equipment/ Farm background
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience is a plus

Responsibilities (with guidance from technical team leaders)

  • Prototype equipment electrical and or electronic Design and Troubleshooting. This could be helping with design and construction of industrial control panels to assistance with PCB design and evaluation. May also use single board controllers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc.) to test and prove out concepts.
  • Test equipment Design and Troubleshooting
  • Occasional assistance with production equipment issues and questions.
  • Documentation (Schematics, Manuals, test documents, etc.)
  • Regulatory technical assistance (UL,ETL, CSA, CE)
