Job description

To expand our European team, we are looking for a Product Manager for our European market. As a product manager, you are responsible for developing and maintaining a dedicated product rang for conventional milking systems. In this function, in line with the company’s strategy, you define, implement and manage your product offering.

You make sure to constantly optimize the product offering (thanks to multiple analysis: market’s needs/trends; opportunities/ threats on the market; Competition,..) in line with company’s global strategy and goals and in line with expected profitability. You release new products, update current ones, replace and/or obsolete others…. based on the product’s lifecycle. To achieve your objectives, you constantly manage to keep a good knowledge and understanding of the market you’re active on, in order to determine the best offering possible, making sure that we answer our potential customer’s needs; that we implement the right strategy and approach to the market ; that we reach company’s goals in terms of positioning but also in terms of turnover and profitability. In case of a new product release or any updates to the offering, you make sure to secure a complete business plan (what needs to be done, what is the impact in terms of revenues/ positioning, why it is needed – positioning, market’s demand, incremental sales , cost reduction ; …). On the other hand, you contribute to optimize the revenues of existing products (in collaboration with other departments such as « sales », supply chain, etc,), you follow the costs and margins and make suggestions for any potential actions that would boost the business. You manage the forecasts with the support of other departments and support supply chain to optimize the production/logistic flows.

Tasks :

  • Manage the Product range
  • optimize the product offering (thanks to multiple analysis: market’s needs/trends; opportunities/threats on the market ; Competition, …) in line with Company’s global strategy and goals and in line with expected profitability.
  • make sure to constantly keep a close eye on the market, the network, the trends, the evolution of regulations that would impact the offering, keep close contacts with salesforce to understand their needs, the needs of the dealers, farmers,…
  • make sure, in case of a new product release or any updates to the offering, to define the ROI analysis (what needs to be done, what is the impact in terms of revenues/positioning, …., why is it needed – positioning, market’s demand, incremental sales , cost reduction, …) ; list a thorough list of expectations and specifications regarding this new item (the functionalities of the product, the design/look of the product, the expected cost, the expected selling price, the expected volume of sales per year/month with a long term vision, ….)
  • Manage the Prices
  • determine the price positioning (thanks to market’s analysis, defined positioning, product’s specs, cost analysis and in line with expected company’s levels of profitability)
  • Optimise revenues/sales
  • make sure to optimize the revenues (in Collaboration with other departments such as « sales », supply chain, etc, he/she makes sure to follow up the costs and to reach the company’s goals in terms of turnover
  • Promote the offering
  • contribute to the external promotion of the offering (supports the MARCOM team) ; Promotes the offering internally (and in the network); make sure to keep documents/materials on his product range up to date for a good understanding of it , He/she gives briefings/trainings to internal staff (and network) to keep staff well informed, etc.
  • Manage the budgets and forecasts
  • make sure to not exceed annual allocated budgets and contributes to define these annual budgets (based on defined strategy and product plan) – define and track forecasts to optimize supply chain’s flows

Skills & Personal profiles

  • Very good knowledge of English and German – any other language is an asset
  • Degree in marketing/sales/agri-engineering
  • Relevant professional experience in a similar position
  • Proven experience (and/or knowledge) in the dairy industry (or agriculture in a larger scale)
  • Optimistic and open-minded personality
  • Pro-active and easy communicator
  • Able to make evaluations based on quantitative and qualitative data’s; Able to remain critical towards any actions/decisions
  • Able to run a project from A to Z and able to operate within a team
  • Able to negotiate/run business relations with suppliers/partners/customers
  • Able to list priorities and to stick to them
  • Able to determine and set up short – and long-term product strategies
  • Able to operate in diverse situations and to be confronted to diverse people while always remaining professional
  • Able to do several tasks and to collaborate with many different company’s departments
  • Rigorous when it comes to make analysis, recommendations, etc…
  • Willing to travel – approximately 25 % of your time (mainly in EU)
